The Avatr 07L crossover
Changan’s high-end electric brand Avatr obtained an L3 autonomous driving test license, aiming at the commercialization of advanced intelligent driving. At the same time, Avatr submitted its listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The L3 autonomous driving means the vehicle can perform self-driving function under specific conditions such as traffic jams. In these cases, the driver may be distracted from the road with hands off the steering wheel. Previously, Changan’s Deepal SL03 also obtained an L3 test license for specific sections in Chongqing.
Back to Avatr, the brand’s officials didn’t specify a model that got green light for L3 testing. There is a possibility that this vehicle is the upcoming Avatr 07L that will enter the Chinese market this year. However, this information has yet to be officially confirmed. Avatr officials highlighted that multi-scenario road testing is progressing smoothly.
It is also worth noting that Avatr was one of the first Chinese companies to receive approval for L3 autonomous driving on highways in 2023. The Avatr 11 electric crossover completed tests on over 5,000 km of Chongqing highways with a cruising speed of 0-80 km/h. As a result, Avatr obtained a certificate from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).

Previously, Changan revealed that its approved L3 models are equipped with a 4D millimeter-wave radar. It reportedly boasts leading performance in 17 scenarios across 5 categories. It is also worth noting that Hesai previously released the FTX LiDAR sensor with a viewing angle of 180 degrees designed specifically for L3 autonomous driving. Hesai supplied these sensors to the mentioned Changan’s Deepal SL03 sedan. There is a high chance the mysterious L3-approved Avatr model is also equipped with the FTX LiDAR.
According to China EV DataTracker, Avatr delivered 6,912 vehicles in May 2026, down 37.8% Year-Over-Year. Its cumulative sales reached 23,458 units from January to May 2026.
