Cognata’s Simulation Platform Selected To Test Innoviz’s LiDAR Sensor Tech

Innoviz Technologies, a leading Israel-based provider of solid-state LiDAR sensors and perception software has selected Israeli autonomous vehicle simulation platform provider Cognata as its simulation partner for simulated testing and validation of sensor hardware and perception software offerings, Cognata announced Monday.

Cognata says its simulation platform, developed for large-scale automotive simulation for Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle markets, can replicate how Innoviz’s LiDAR tech reflects off various materials to reproduce the way the sensor will work on the road.

This marks “an unparalleled level of precision in automotive sensor testing on the market today,” Cognata said in the statement.

Innoviz’s LiDAR sensors provide a comprehensive 3D image of the world around the car, necessary for self-driving vehicles. Simulation, according to Cognata, provides the only environment where the fast-paced LiDAR tech can be tested in real-life scenarios and challenges, including diverse weather conditions.

“Cognata is committed to delivering best-in-class simulation for the entire automated driving sensor suite,” said Danny Atsmon, CEO of the company. “Our simulation platform offers the most precise-level of testing on the market that can replicate the exact sensor responses, down to the fine details.”

The selection brings Cognata’s “simulated realism” to one of the most in-demand sensor applications in automated driving.

“Innoviz greatly invests in the design and production of the highest levels of quality, reliability, performance, and safety of its products,” said Omer Keilaf, co-founder and CEO of Innoviz. “Simulation is key to accelerating the development process while maintaining quality. After an extensive evaluation of solutions, Innoviz has selected Cognata, as it provides the highest level of simulation realism suitable for our needs.”

This deal, where the industry leader in high-resolution automotive-grade LiDAR is partnering with the industry leader in automated driving simulation provides further proof of Israel having become a global automotive tech powerhouse.” adds Alon Atsmon, chairman of Cognata.
