It is of course prohibited, and of course, no one should put it into practice. This Youtuber carried it out on a secondary road and only 10 km / h.

The video is interesting because we can see it live the different security systems of Tesla cars in the event that the driver tries to get out of the car while the autopilot is activated.

It should be clarified that the autopilot Tesla only works on the straights. You can take a curve and even change lanes, but you can’t drive alone as a self-driving car.

As we see in the video, with the Autopilot switched on additional safety measures are activated. If we remove our seat belts, the car stops. The Youtuber solved it by sitting on the hooked belt.

It is also not possible with the autopilot to open the door with the automatic lock. But it can be opened with the manual handle. Then when you open the door, the car also stops.

These are adequate security measures, but the last option remains, which apparently Tesla does not contemplate: the driver to go out the window. The car does not detect it and keep going, while the driver runs beside him.

But there are two important details that are not explained in the video. On the one hand, you can see how the co-pilot keeps his foot on the brake while the YouTuber goes out the window. In the comments on the video, he explains that it is for safety because the road is old and the road lines are poorly painted, and the Autopilot is guided by the lines.

Finally, it is important to know that, If the Tesla doesn’t detect the hands on the wheel after 25 seconds, it stops automatically. So if the video had lasted longer, we would have seen the car stop.

And although it has circulated for a few seconds without a driver it seems that Tesla’s security measures are quite effective because the vehicle will always stop, at the latest, after 25 seconds.
