Uber said to eye $10m stake in robotaxi firm Pony.ai’s US IPO

Uber plans to invest in Pony.ai’s IPO in the United States.

Pony.ai has delayed its IPO to address regulatory questions and expects to raise up to US$260 million.

Uber seeks to purchase more than US$10 million in Pony.ai’s shares.

Talks about this investment are ongoing, and Uber is interested in a partnership with Pony.ai beyond the US.

Pony.ai’s offering now involves 20 million American depository shares, increased from an initial 15 million, priced between US$11 and US$13 each.

The company, founded in 2016, operates autonomous vehicle fleets in the US and China.

Uber’s broader interest in autonomous technology is evident from its investments in WeRide and partnerships with Waymo and Wayve.
