(video) The Kodiak Driver – Double-lateral Avoidance

Watch the Kodiak Driver navigate through slow-moving traffic, an aggressive merge, and a motorcycle passing on the shoulder, all at the same time.

We call this double-lateral avoidance, where our autonomous truck detects and understands the movements and intentions of vehicles on both left and right simultaneously and reacts to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. These kinds of scenarios are why it’s critical to pair on-road driving with simulation – we can train and retrain the Kodiak Driver to handle the most complex scenarios we see on the road.
